Toshiba ESS secures an EPC contract from VPCL

Toshiba Energy Systems & Solutions Corporation (Toshiba ESS) recently announced that the four-party consortium of Toshiba ESS, IHI Corporation, CTCI Corporation, and Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction has won an EPC contract from Van Phong Power Company Limited (VPCL), a Vietnamese company invested in by Sumitomo Corporation, and has started construction work for the Van Phong 1 Coal-Fired Power Plant in Vietnam. Toshiba ESS will be in charge of the design, manufacturing, installation and test operation for the steam turbines and generators (STGs) used in the project. The plant is scheduled to start commercial operation by the end of 2023.
The power station that VPCL will build, own and transfer is a coal-fired power plant located in the Van Phong Special Economic Zone, with a generation capacity of 1,320 MW. The electricity generated from this plant will be sold to Vietnam Electricity (EVN) over a period of 25 years.
