Social Programme

To make the Stainless Steel World Conference & Exhibition 2009 as informative and enjoyable an  experience as possible, Stainless Steel World put together a variety of network opportunities. These allowed delegates to mix and mingle with their peers from industry in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Please read about these important networking occasions below.

Welcome Reception

A "meet and greet" with the steering committee, authors, presenters, exhibitors and the Stainless Steel World staff in a relaxed and informal setting. Held on Monday, November 9th in the NH Hotel, the Welcome  Reception provided an ideal opportunity for delegates to introduce themselves to the members of the community and to kick-start their participation.

Jubilee Celebration Reception

In 2009 KCI Publishing (parent company of Stainless Steel World), celebrated its 20th anniversary of doing business in industrial publishing. As part of the celebrations KCI hosted a Jubilee Celebration Reception on Tuesday November 10th from 16:00 onwards upon the exhibition floor. All Conference Delegates, Exhibitors and Visitors alike were cordially invited to join with us at The Stainless Steel World Stand for a celebratory drink and to share their memories and thoughts of the past 20 years of business partnerships. With live music, drinks and snacks, this was the perfect place to revive old aquaintances and forge new business partnerships.

Exhibition Breaks

Hosted on the exhibition floor at regular intervals during the three-day conference timetable, the Exhibition Breaks were intended to provide a timely and refreshing intermission for all conference delegates. Planned to provide an opportunity to reflect on the information that delegates gleaned during the conference presentations and workshops, the Exhibition Breaks were also designed to generate informal discussions about the conference content. These breaks were also the ideal place to meet session chairmen, presenters, authors and moderators.

Conference & Exhibition lunches

Set in the midst of the exhibition, the Conference Lunch Area provided an oasis of calm and a chance to chill out and restore energy levels for the afternoon ahead. A varied selection of menu’s were offered to suit all and tempt the tastebuds. This was a chance for delegates to sit down with friends and business acquaintances alike.

Stainless Steel World Conference & Exhibition Dinner

The highlight of the Social Programme of each Stainless Steel World Conference & Exhibition is the Celebratory Dinner. In 2009, the evening again proved to be really enjoyable as delectable food and interesting company were guaranteed. Many delegates really enjuoyed the live music and dancing after the dinner, but quieter areas were also available for people wishing to simply enjoy a relaxing drink and a chat.

The Closing Ceremony and Awards
Held at the end of the show, the Closing Ceremony was a combination of serious appraisal and fun. The conference chairperson, Iris Rommerskirchen, looked back on the three days of the event assessing what had been achieved. In addition she also looked towards the future. At the same time, awards and prizes were handed out to those who had made the most impressive contribution to the 2009 event: the best overall presenter at the conference, the best young presenter, the best stand.
