Salini Impregilo completes Sogamoso power plant

The hydroelectric power plant in Sogamoso, Colombia, one of the country's four major plants, has been officially inaugurated. The President of the Republic Juan Manuel Santos Calderón and other members of government, the general manager of ISAGEN, Luis Fernando Rico Pinzón, and the Salini Impregilo management attended the ceremony.

Located on the Sogamoso river in north-west Colombia, the plant comprises a 190m-tall dam and an underground power station housing three Francis turbines capable of generating a total of 820MW of power.... Read more...

Northcote to acquire US assets of NAP

Northcote, an onshore US oil and gas exploration and production company, has signed an agreement with NAPP to acquire the entire issued share capital of NAPP's wholly owned US subsidiary, NAP USA.

Severstal certified to ship rebar to Scandinavia

Severstal received the SFS1268 certificate permitting the Company to make shipments of rebar to Finland and other Baltic countries, where there is high demand for these steel products.

To date, Severstal has received certification for 10mm, 12mm and 16mm diameter rebar produced at the Cherepovets steel mill’s mill 250 (part of Severstal’s Russian Steel division).... Read more...

James P. Bouchard, chairperson and CEO of Esmark Europe, the European investment vehicle of Esmark, announced that it has been selected as the winning bidder in the privatisation process for ┼Żelezara Smederevo Steel Works by the Republic of Serbia.

Esmark Europe will now begin the process of finalising the strategic partnership agreement with the Republic of Serbia to take a controlling 80.1% stake in ┼Żelezara Smederevo.... Read more...
