The directors of Cockatoo Coal announced the appointment of Peter Kane as the CEO of the company to lead the delivery of the Baralaba Expansion project in the Bowen Basin, Queensland. Kane’s employment will formally begin on 19 April 2015.

US environmental contracts for Amec Foster Wheeler

Amec Foster Wheeler secured two contracts by Freeport-McMoRan for the design and supply of a new wet flue gas desulphurisation system at their existing copper smelter facility in Miami, Arizona, USA. The value of the contracts has not been announced.

Under the contracts, Amec Foster Wheeler will provide a new scrubber vessel equipped with a dual flow tray to optimise sulphur dioxide reduction, spray nozzles, recycle pumps, and mist eliminators, as well as engineering and site supervision services.... Read more...

Subsea sector reacts positively to UK budget

Subsea UK, the body that champions the UK’s subsea industry, has welcomed the measures presented in this year's UK budget. The subsea industry generates annual revenues of GBP 9B and supports around 55,000 jobs across the country.

Heatric recuperator for NET Power’s sCO2 power plant

Heatric has been chosen to supply the vitally important recuperative heat exchangers for the first-of-a-kind supercritical CO2 (sCO2) power plant being built by NET Power, CB&I, Exelon Generation, Toshiba and 8 Rivers Capital in Texas, USA.

Chandan Steel Ltd has expanded its forging capacities with the vision of becoming the world’s largest manufacturer of stainless steel forgings at a single location. A forging capacity of 3000 MT/month is being targeted by adding state-of-the-art equipment including a 20 MT Counter Blow Hammer and a 3m Ring Rolling Machine.
